Cutting Drawer Grooves with a Circular Saw: Chest of Drawers part VIII

I am using my new jig to cut the grooves in my drawer sides.

First I take one of the sides and lay it out for preparation.

I put on a strip of blue tape on the bottom edge. This will prevent splintering of the plywood.

I slide the piece of wood under the jig and measure 3/8 of an inch.

Since the blade of the saw is 3/8 inch this leaves 1/4 inch. I clamp my jig down tight and prepare to cut.

After the first cut I pull the piece out one more 1/8 of an inch to the 1/2 inch mark.

Sometimes this will leave a very small piece in the groove.

A chisel can easily clean this up.

Using this method it took me about one hour to groove all my drawer sides.
