I made a jig for my circular saw based on information I found on Pinterest and YouTube. I found the Ryobi circular saw to be very economical. The jig I made will allow me to make straight precise cuts. This is good because I don't have a table saw.
I started with two pieces of scrap wood and a flat board that used to be part of a table.
First I attached one of the woods to make a cleat.
But that piece was not very thick, so I found a bigger one that would serve my purpose better.
Next I attached the other piece of wood to the top surface, it will serve as a guide for the saw.
Oh no, it cracked! I should have made pilot holes for the screws. When I did, I was able to successfully attached it.
Then I ran the saw down the jig and cut the excess material off. This will also provide a nice straight cut to the pieces that will lay underneath the jig.
Coming in a future post, I will use my jig for making dresser drawers.
